Electrical that keeps your business running.

Build-outs, renovations, lighting, service calls, and the kind of reliable maintenance that catches problems before they become emergencies. We work with offices, retail, hospitality, and other small businesses across northern Michigan.

What we handle

If your space has its own electrical panel and you need something done with it, we probably do it. If you're not sure whether your project is a good fit, ask — we'll give you a straight answer either way.

Build-outs & renovations

New tenant move-in? Reconfiguring an existing space? We work from the architect or designer's plan (or work it out with you on site), pull the permits, and deliver an inspection-ready electrical package.

  • New tenant build-outs
  • Office reconfigurations
  • Retail and hospitality fit-outs
  • Coordination with GC, HVAC, IT

Lighting upgrades & controls

LED retrofits that pay for themselves over a few years, occupancy sensors that cut waste, and dimming that's actually pleasant to be under. Both new installs and upgrades to existing fixtures.

  • LED retrofit & full replacement
  • Occupancy & daylight sensors
  • Tunable-white & dimming systems
  • Office, retail, gallery, restaurant

Outlets, circuits & panels

Adding new equipment? Reconfiguring a workspace? We add dedicated circuits for printers, point-of-sale, kitchens, server closets, and the things you don't want sharing power with the breakroom microwave.

  • Dedicated circuits for equipment
  • Subpanel additions
  • Receptacle & data outlet adds
  • Point-of-sale & cash-wrap power

Sign & exterior lighting

Storefront signs, parking-area lighting, building accent lighting, photocell-controlled exteriors. Includes the ugly stuff: weatherproof boxes, proper conduit, and circuits that don't kick out at the first snowstorm.

  • Storefront sign install & repair
  • Parking lot & pole lights
  • Building accent & security lighting
  • Photocell & timer control

Service calls & repairs

Something stopped working. Something started flickering. Something smells warm. Call us and we'll triage it — most non-emergency commercial issues we can be on-site for the same week, often the same day.

  • Tripping breaker / fault tracing
  • Outlet, switch, and fixture issues
  • Equipment connection & repair
  • Code-violation correction

Maintenance walk-throughs

For businesses that want to stay ahead of problems: a periodic visit, panel and connection check, fixture survey, and a written report of what's working, what's marginal, and what should be on the budget for next year.

  • Quarterly or semi-annual visits
  • Panel & connection thermal check
  • Lighting & emergency-fixture survey
  • Written report with priorities

Who we work with

If you run a small business in northern Michigan, you're in the lane. Common kinds of clients:

If you're not on this list, ask anyway — most things are.

How a commercial job goes

Same shape as residential, with more coordination if you're sharing the building with other trades or the public:

/01

Walk-through

We come to the space, look at the panel and the scope, and ask the questions that matter — including how disruptive the work can be to your operation.

/02

Pricing

Most commercial work is billed time-and-materials with the rate disclosed up front. For larger defined-scope projects (build-outs, lighting packages), a fixed-price quote can be prepared on request.

/03

Schedule

We work around your hours where it makes sense — early morning, after close, weekends — so customers and staff aren't dodging extension cords.

/04

Wrap-up

Inspection where required, walk-through with you, itemized invoice, and digital paperwork. We follow up after a week to make sure everything's working as expected.

How pricing works

Commercial electrical at SAFElectric is billed time and materials with the hourly rate disclosed up front. You pay for the hours we actually work and the parts we actually use — itemized clearly on the invoice.

Larger, well-defined commercial projects (build-outs, full lighting refreshes, multi-week renovations) can be quoted as fixed-price on request. If your project needs a firm number for a budget approval or a property-management sign-off, just say so when you reach out.

Walk-throughs are free. We don't charge for showing up to scope the work.
